This 20 x 24 gallery-wrapped acrylic painting depicts people heading for shelter at a nearby coffee shop to get out of the rain. The light reflected in the rain-drenched streets makes for an especially beautiful scene, while the warmth coming from windows of the coffee shop invite you in for a hot drink or a bite to eat.
Primarily self-taught, I painted my first painting shortly after retiring from my "real job" of thirty-five years as a bureaucrat for the state. I bought a how-to-paint book, a few paints and brushes and began painting. I began painting with oils. Recently I gave acrylics a try and find I enjoy that medium, too. My style is evolving, meaning the results vary from painting to painting. While I don't exhibit or sell any work I'm not proud of, some paintings do come closer to my style objective than others. And, yes, some paintings are trashed! Collectors from Hawaii to New England and Alaska to Florida have purchased my work. (Hopefully, the internet will expand the market for me to the rest of the world!) Visit my website at J Loren...

Thanks, Matt. Sold the original December 2012. I want to do more rain-in-the-city paintings. Love what the wet reflections on the streets!
